Yeovil had to settle for a point after Ryan Jarvis grabbed a scrambled equaliser at Huish Park this afternoon.

In a breathtaking match, the Glovers had come from a goal down to lead twice before Jarvis's low shot found the net with half an hour remaining.

There was a flying start to the game when Andy Welsh fired over after being set up by Danny Schofield in the fourth minute.

Less than a minute later though and the visitors had taken the lead with the first of four goals in the first period. Leyton Orient right back Stephen Purches crossed from the right and Scott McGleish headed home past a helpless Alex McCarthy.

The hosts needed to get back into the game quickly and they did so.

First, the Glovers forced a corner then after ten minutes, Jonathan Obika was bundled over inside the box by Charlie Daniels. Gavin Tomlin slotted home to the keepers left for the equaliser.

The game settled down for twenty minutes as both sides cancelled each other's attacks out. Welsh was causing problems on Orient's right flank and both he and Tomlin created half-chances with dangerous crosses.

Orient came back into it more and James Scowcroft tested McCarthy with a low free-kick. Glovers captain Craig Alcock almost grabbed a second with a towering header from another Welsh corner and it appeared a goal was soon to follow.

The visitors had a corner which was cleared out to Welsh on the left byline. It was three against two with Tomlin and Obika supporting the winger.

Welsh delayed his pass until precisely the right moment when he slipped the ball to Obika who turned and fired low past keeper Jamie Jones.

With four minutes remaining of the first half came the pick of the goals. Andros Townsend, in the hoops of Yeovil barely four months ago, ran at Yeovil's defence on the left, cut inside and rifled a low shot from twenty yards past McCarthy.

The interval gave everyone time to catch their breath but within six minutes, the scoring spree continued.

Yeovil had forced three corners in quick succession and both Welsh and Keiran Murtagh had half-chances but the deserved third goal came when Alcock's low cross was controlled by Danny Schofield (pictured) who turned and curled a beauty past keeper Jones for the 3-2 lead.

On the hour, the final goal of the six arrived. The visitors were awarded a free-kick wide on the right and when it wasn't cleared, the ball fell to Jarvis who hit his low shot through a melee of players past an unsighted McCarthy.

Though the scoring ended, the excitement and the chances hadn't. Tomlin was put through on the right but delayed his shot too long,

Welsh's strong running almost set up Tomlin again but the striker just failed to reach his cross.

Tomlin's tireless running was replaced by the differing threat of Sam Williams and he held up the ball well in the latter stages.

Yeovil continued pressing and Welsh again nearly snatched a winner but his shot whistled wide. McCarthy had to be alert to save well after a goalmouth scramble and at the other end, Obika saw his shot deflected.

The final chance of the match went to Townsend who almost repeated his first half goal when he cut inside and thumped his shot a foot wide.

All in all, a cracking game albeit a game that generates only one point for the Glovers but this brand of entertaining football should soon see more than the crowd of 3,827 turning up at Huish Park.
